Jennifer Hudson and An Old Blog

Details have come out regarding the tragic murders of the family members of performer Jennifer Hudson.  Seems the murders of her mother, brother, and nephew were at the hand of her sister's estranged husband.  The apparent reason? He was jealous that Hudson's sister was seeing another man.

This raised an issue for me that I actually blogged about over a year ago, called "Relationship Violence."  The cycle has not stopped, and pop culture doesn't seem to even be talking about how to end this behavior.

    Hey Melissa,

Here we are again, speaking about domestic violence. I am with you on this one, we have to stop the madness. People need to learn how to redirect their anger away from hurting others, especially family, even if the are a former family member. My heart broke when I heard about Jennifer Hudson. My prayers are with her. Thanks Melissa for keeping the domestic violence topic alive so we can work together to try and stop it and help women avoid it if at all possible.
    Blessings, Aurea

    Melissa,
Keep this issue before your public, it's too important to just be a "side" note in the news. I think until all women, even at a young age improve their self esteem and identify what is totally unacceptable in behavior from the opposite sex, it will never stop. I would like to see a survey of women who can admit the age they first experienced abuse (mental, physical or emotional), and the age they finally decided to not allow anyone to abuse them anymore. I venture to say it's a long time. I think education is the first step. Education gives you options. I wish all women believed their education was as important as most men. For example, we need to teach our daughters that nothing is impossible. I hope I live to see the first female President of the United States!
