Eat My Virtual Laser

Yes, I'm a geek.  *snort*   And some of the geeky things I like to do in my spare time include graphic novels, anime, and gaming.  *snort again*  And I'm proud of it.

So, when Bert asked us recently on the Bert Show to share a Superficial Goal for 2009, I tapped into my geek world.  My Superficial Goal for 2009 - to do voice over work either in animation or in gaming.  When you watch cartoons or play a video game, every character has a person in a studio somewhere who records that character's voice.  I had no idea where I would even begin to do that kind of work, but I told our listeners that I would try next year.

Fortunately for me the Bert Show community includes employees of Hi-Rez Studios in Alpharetta, who surprised me in studio Tuesday to offer me a shot at voicing one of the characters in their new game, Global Agenda!  Not only that, but the character's features will be patterned after my face and body movements!! I'm not sure who I will be in the game, but I assume I'll have a big gun.  Grrr.  What an honor, and honestly if a camera had been in the studio when they told me all this you would have seen the 5-year-old Melissa come out to play.

The plan is for me to visit Hi-Rez Studios in January to begin the process.  I will certainly keep you posted.  *snort*
