Yom Kippur Can Kickstart Your Diet

I recently sent the following Tweet:

Has anyone ever converted to Judaism to lose weight? Seriously overheard someone say of Yom Kippur, "Ooh, I want to fast!" (@MelissaCarter)

A Bert Show listener responded that they didn't take advantage of the Jewish custom but had observed Ramadan for 30 days to lose weight.  I was raised so Protestant we didn't give anything up for Lent as many Catholics do.  But I'm sure much of that Papal sacrifice involves food as well.

Divine Diets never crossed my mind before now, but imagine the possibilities of that eating plan! When you think about it, it's already endorsed by God!

Your regimen would begin with Tevet, which requires a day of fasting.  Then for Passover you would avoid bread or grain products.  For Yom Kippur there is a day of fasting, plus you can sprinkle in the five other Jewish fast days as your diet plan requires.  Follow that up with nearly a month of fasting for Ramadan and Wah-LAH! You'll be fit just in time to Eat, Drink, and Praise Mary at Christmas.

But I'm not the first to market this, since there is an existing diet plan that inspires you to eat like Jesus.  Click HERE to check it out....

Oh for the love! Ha! I don't get why people won't eat for THIRTY days? That doesn't even sound healthy. And is it a coincidence that the people I know who swear they're doing it for religious reasons, are also a bit overweight? I've never seen a skinny person do that. Just a thought.
