Unfortunately the Nokia Theater did not allow cameras or phones for the American Idol show, but you can see official photos here.

A friend of mine works on Parks & Recreation, so I got up to go see her in action and on the way to the set we saw the wardrobe remains from the finale of Biggest Loser the night before:

I got to be honest, I geeked out on set since I've never worked in television and find it so fascinating.  I told my friend that in radio it's about "audio theatre" but here I was like a kid with all the props...

               

I made it to Amy Poehler's desk and took a seat.  Notice the actual pictures of Amy in some of the frames around her office:

And finally something that I thought was funny are the props you think are one thing when watching the show but are really another.  Look closely at the labels and magazine names:
