You Say You Want An ECOlution

Well, you know.  We all want to change the world.

I should be dead.  Without modern technology, or my organ donor and cousin Pam Price, I would be.  That's because in 2002 she gave me one of her kidneys that has kept me alive these past 8 years.  And one thing I learned in this time is that we do have a responsibility to make the world around us a better place.

Helping Mother Earth has been one effort I have taken very seriously this past decade.  But I found there was something missing in all the Going Green campaigns I've seen - the message of recycling yourself along with plastic, paper, and glass.  That is why I created ECOlution, a fashion show where not only are the clothes recyclable but the models are too.  You see, we don't use professional models or celebrities on stage.  Every model in ECOlution is a transplant recipient, candidate, donor, nurse, or doctor.

This year's Trinity Productions event is taking place at Mason Murer Fine Art on Thursday, October 14th, presented by Jim Ellis Audi Atlanta and Greenway Medical Technologies, and benefits the Georgia Transplant Foundation and the Melissa Carter Transplant Fund.  Chip Powell from Whole World Theatre is your Emcee, and DJ Camille will be providing our models with some great music to strut to.

And what is a charity event without cool stuff in a Silent and Live Auction? We've got that covered with a signed Atlanta Falcons jersey by Matt Ryan, a signed baseball by Atlanta Brave Chipper Jones, in-home cooking class with David Sturn, tickets to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, a bed & breakfast package from Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta, plus so much more!!

There is also a special item we have up for Raffle.  Going back to my dedication to Mother Earth I found it frustrating that I could not recycle my pill bottles.  On a daily basis I take what I call my "Kidney Cocktail," at least a dozen or so pills that keep Pam's kidney running smoothly.  That many pills creates a large collection of pill bottles, and I have been unable to release them to a landfill.  So they have collected dust in my garage in bins.  Yes, all my pill bottles dating back to 2002.

SCAD has taken those pill bottles and is creating a sculpture from them for ECOlution.  That sculpture will be up for Raffle on October 14th, but with a twist.  The winner of the raffle will decide which transplant facility will house this work of art, and will be credited for that donation at the display.

People die every day waiting for an organ transplant.  Why? Because there are simply not enough donors.  We are working to end that, and at ECOlution we will be able to sign you up as an Organ Donor there on site.  And one person's ultimate donation can save the lives of up to 60 other people.  Sixty.  You can do that by a stroke of a few keys at ECOlution.
